By signing up for this list, you will be able to receive future recruitment updates, reminders for information events, and a list of CLAPA's Sorority Alumnae Recruitment Team.
We are so excited that you are interested in learning more about sorority recruitment and we are here to help with guidance and education. Instead, our focus this year will be on support and education. We encourage you to attend our informational meeting in March or reach out to Kim Mathis, our Recruitment Chairman at mathis_kim@yahoo.com
National Panhellenic Council’s policy regarding Letters of Recommendation:
Sorority letters of recommendation are not required for participation in the recruitment process. The 26 NPC member organizations have agreed on the following policy:
Letters of Recommendation (2021) – POLICY
The responsibility for providing letters of recommendation for potential new members rests with the members of NPC sororities. Any recruitment information distributed by College and/or Alumnae Panhellenics may not state or infer that letters of recommendation are to be secured by potential new members. Any form of compensation from a potential new member or her family for a letter is not acceptable.
This means that letters of recommendation CANNOT be required for participating in recruitment. The Potential New Member (PNM) should NOT experience “undue stress or burden to secure letters of recommendation.”
For those of you who wish to submit letters of recommendation, it is asked that letters are written by women that you or your family know personally. Those are the women who know you best and can write a letter of recommendation that will make an impact. If a sorority alumna is willing to write you a letter of recommendation, she may ask for the following digital copies from you:
NOTE: There may be a small group universities that would PREFER to have letters of recommendation (not required), but school decisions have been changing from year to year. Updates will be made here as they become available.
If you wish to reach out to a Sorority Alumnae Representative to ask questions or need support, please email Kim Mathis and she will send you a contact list of our representatives.
